Hsipaw
River and buffaloes. A baby buffalo cost around 300 USD
Hsipaw or Thipaw is a small town that is around 5 hours by bus away north of Mandalay. This charming small town is located in Shan State , 500M above sea level is inhabited mostly by Shan people and various indigenous people. The Shan are mostly Buddhist with completely different language from Burmese. I came here with plan to stay one night or two however I got hooked around 5 nights here. What can be better than cycling bicycle around the farms and villages with fresh air, cheap beers and water buffaloes.

Finally after all the rumours, ranting, panting and news leak the top notch dslr , D4 has been officially announced. Nikon has been quite silent on 2011 except for some smaller format camera. This is possibly the biggest announcement from Nikon since the D7000 and the floods in Bangkok that has wrecked production line in Thailand.

Travelling to Mandalay
Mandalay would be the second largest city in Myanmar. This city is normally quite far up the north and would be in the list of tourist route to travel. There are plenty of licensed guesthouses at the downtown of Mandalay but it get cramped in the peak season at the end of year so booking early may be wise.

Myanmar street foods
I finally tried the street foods at Myanmar without having any ill effects (thanks to my Indian trained stomach) . Nevermind the dozens of flies, sands on the rice and somewhat weird taste once a while.
